In Reception we provide a warm, safe and caring atmosphere in which all children can thrive. We pride ourselves on knowing all our children as individuals and the staff are committed to encouraging children to become confident, independent and above all happy learners. Our Junior Department aims to provide a child-centred approach to learning and development. It is important to establish a good grounding in all seven areas of learning and on this solid framework we are able to build an exciting and varied curriculum.

We make the most of our beautiful grounds and the outdoor environment is very important in our children’s learning. We take lessons outdoors as much as possible and have weekly sessions of Forest School in our school woods.

There are three Reception classes, with no more than 22 children in each class. There is one teacher supported by a learning assistant in each class.

Lessons with specialist teachers include Performing Arts, Forest School and PE.
