Top gardening awards for Edge Grove

We are delighted to receive the top award from the Royal Horticultural Society in its Campaign for School Gardening.

We have been involved in this scheme for five years and last year received a level 3 award. This summer we have been awarded the prestigious level 5 award only awarded to the top 1% of schools in the whole country.

In order to achieve this we had to demonstrate that the school garden was used by pupils throughout the school and also involves parents and the wider community. We showed this recently with our plant stall at the medieval fete and with the very successful ‘Honesty Veg Box’ outside the music department.

There are nearly 30,000 schools or gardening groups involved in this scheme so to achieve a level 5 is a fantastic achievement for the school.

We have also recently achieved a prestigious Gold Award from the Woodland Trust for our work in and around the woods on site. This award is the top category possible.

In the autumn we will receive 150 trees which will all be planted around the grounds and ensure that the original eighteenth century arboretum continues to develop and grow.
