Building on the solid foundation of earlier years, Middle School develops an eagerness to learn and encourages a spirit of independence.

Our aim is to produce confident well rounded individuals, whilst affording them the best possible education.

In Years 5 and 6 each form has a dedicated form tutor who is responsible for registration and is the first point of call for pastoral care. The form tutor also monitors the academic progress of each pupil and communicates regularly and effectively with parents.

All subjects from Years 5-8 are taught by individual subject teachers. Teaching groups of between 18 and 20 children are divided into two smaller tutor groups of between 8 and 10, ensuring that each child gets the highest level of attention. Smaller classes enable us to concentrate fully on the individual child, nurturing confidence and developing self-esteem. It also gives staff a unique opportunity to form outstanding relationships with the children. This level of support is key to making the children feel confident to succeed in all areas of the school, and strengthens significantly the important link between tutor and parent.

During these years at Edge Grove, pupils are encouraged to undertake a broad spectrum of activities, and are given many opportunities for personal and social growth.
