Our Year 7 and 8 pupils feel a sense of achievement and privilege in reaching the Upper School.

The curriculum remains diverse, challenging and entertaining but simultaneously prepares pupils appropriately for the relevant 13+ examinations.

We build on the excellent practices of the Pre Prep and Lower Prep, maintaining a vibrant and diverse approach to learning, but focusing specifically on the needs of 13+. Behaviour guidelines and expectations are clear with good relationships between the staff and pupils. The pupils follow a different timetable and are expected to be more independent and organised.

All pupils follow the Edge Grove Baccalaureate, a two year programme designed to develop the school’s Guiding Principles. The Baccalaureate incorporates four distinct areas of study: Leadership, Enrichment & Life Skills, Outdoor Learning, and Charity & Service.

Academic focus is towards preparation for Common Entrance and Scholarship examinations in the final year. There is an increased timetable allocation for the core Common Entrance subjects and homework is set in all the examinable subjects. In Year 8 our pupils experience a wide variety of leadership opportunities including House and sport captaincy. Along the way they complete weekly duties, leadership awards, and community service as well as demonstrating the right example around the school. Their critical thinking, leadership, communication skills, and teamwork skills are tracked carefully, which feeds into their performance in the Baccalaureate Award.

At the end of their time at Edge Grove our Year 8 pupils are socially and academically prepared for the transition to their chosen senior schools, feeling confident that they have been well prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.

We offer 11+ Scholarships for entry to Year 7. Please click here for more information.

I look forward to meeting you and showing you around the Upper School at Edge Grove.
