Congratulations to Reuben, a pupil in Year 6, who this week received a National Commendation at the Pupil Library Assistant of the Year Awards.

The whole School is immensely proud of Reuben, who received the award at the Pupil Library Assistant of the Year Awards held at Pearson Publishing on the Strand last Friday.

The award, founded by Barbara Band, is led by the School Library Association with the CILIP School Libraries Group and sponsored by Authors Aloud UK and Pearson.  It recognises the impact school libraries have on young people and how being a pupil library assistant brings benefits to the individual, the library and the school as a whole.

Children’s Laureate, Joseph Coelho, presented Reuben with his award and Reuben had the opportunity to speak to guests, including over thirty authors, about his charitable initiative, Blooms for Books.

You can read more about the day in this article from Books For Keeps –  UK Pupil Library Assistant of The Year.

Reuben has kindly donated 14 of his prize books to Edge Grove and asked authors to dedicate others to Westfield Primary School, his first Blooms for Books library.

Thank you to Mrs Volioti, Edge Grove School Librarian, for nominating Reuben and his dedicated work in the Main School Library.
