Where it all begins...
Welcome to the Pre-School at Edge Grove, where our youngest pupils embark on their educational journey. The Pre-School offers a warm, family atmosphere in a home-from-home environment based at the main school site. The Pre-School is a child-centred environment where each child has the opportunity to develop confidence, independence and curiosity about the world around them. We recognise the importance of these early years for your child in the development of character and individuality and in building social skills.
Our talented and dedicated Pre-School staff place the happiness, safety, health and emotional wellbeing of the children at the centre of all they do.
The best way to find out more about our Pre-School and how we differ from other providers is to come and visit us – you and your child will be made very welcome, and I look forward to meeting you.

The Pre-School Day
Our Pre-School children attend a minimum of five mornings a week, with most also attending a number of afternoon sessions in addition. Specialist lessons (Performing Arts, Physical Education, Modern Foreign Languages and Forest School) are timetabled in the mornings to that every child can take part.
By the time they leave us for Reception at Edge Grove, the vast majority of children are coming to Pre-School for full days, to prepare them for the school day in the Junior Department
Pre-School Learning

The Edge Grove Pre-School curriculum is crafted to ignite your child’s curiosity, allowing them to fully explore and develop their ideas. We believe learning should be motivating, engaging, and fun, opening a world of wonder where personal interests can thrive.
Our approach is a careful blend of child-initiated and adult-led activities which focus on building the children’s foundational skills and understanding.
Your child will be with their Pre-School Class Teacher and Learning Assistant for the vast majority of their day, but will also benefit from being taught by specialist staff for Modern Languages (French), Music and Drama, PE and Forest School, with some of these lessons taking place on the main school site.
