Week 1: Colts A Football Festival @ Haileybury JRu

The Edge Grove Colts A team kicked off their campaign with a trip to Haileybury School for a competitive pre-season tournament. Competing across seven matches, the boys embraced the opportunity to experiment with various tactical setups and positional roles. Though faced with tough opposition, the team demonstrated steady progress and growing cohesion with every game played throughout the afternoon. The undoubted highlight of the tournament was a spectacular goal from Monty, finishing off a brilliant, fluid team movement. It was a promising afternoon of football that leaves us eagerly anticipating the start of the official season next week.

Team: Teddy, Harry, Rafael, Raphy, Monty, Wolf, James, Ray, Danny & Noah

Week 2: Colts A Football vs St Martin

The Colts A team put in a spirited performance despite a hard-fought 4-2 defeat, having dominated large periods of the first half and created numerous chances. Raphy brought calm defensive composure alongside Tobi, who ran himself into the ground, while Teddy pulled off several outstanding sweeper-keeper saves. Danny worked tirelessly to build play from back to front, supported brilliantly on a large pitch by Monty and Ray’s relentless work rate down the wings. Noah capitalized on the team’s attacking pressure, netting both of our goals with two directed finishes. Although the result did not go our way, the performance was packed with positives to take into the next fixture!

Week 2: Colts B Football vs St Martin

A fantastic performance from the Colts B team in their first football fixture of the year against St Martins. Edge Grove started brightly and showed excellent teamwork, determination and effort throughout the match, taking a deserved 2-0 lead into half time. Final score: Edge Grove 2-3 St Martins. Although St Martins came back strongly in the second half to secure the win, the effort from every Edge Grove player was exceptional and there were plenty of positives to take from the performance. Standout player this week was Harry S, who demonstrated brilliant tactical awareness both defensively and in attack.

Week 2: Colts C Football vs St Martin

We played well in moments and had chances to score in our first fixture of the season against St Martin’s. On a large pitch the Edge Grove players had to work hard to cover the space. St Martin’s took the early lead and we were often caught on the counter with a number of our players not tracking back to defend. They scored four goals but Oscar J made some terrific saves to keep us in the match. We managed to score a goal just before half-time and the score was  4 – 1. In the second half we played so much better but St Martin’s pulled away and in the end result was 8 -1. Aaran S was excellent in defence and the side never gave up throughout the match. A lot was learned from this match.

Week 2: Colts E Football vs St Martin

The Colts E team kicked off their season in style with a triangular tournament against St Martin’s. In our opening match, the team worked brilliantly together, keeping the ball moving and earning a well-deserved 4-3 victory. The second game proved to be another tight, tense battle, but the team really dug deep to pull off a hard-fought 4-4 draw. Across both matches, the energy was high, and the team showed great sportsmanship from start to finish. It was a fantastic first outing for the team, and everyone should be very proud of the effort put in today.

Week 2: U9 girls Hockey vs Manor Lodge

U9 Mrs Emms Team
What a fantastic first match for our U9 hockey team on Thursday! A great warm-up and some brilliant drills set us up for a fantastic game. The team worked hard together to secure a 10–1 victory! Special mention to Alisha and Daisy for their fantastic runs down the side. They did a great job moving the ball quickly into our attacking half. Well done everyone — I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings!

U9 Miss Corin’s Team
What an amazing start to the hockey season with a brilliant 2–1 win against Manor Lodge! The girls put on an incredible team performance, working hard to transition the ball quickly up the pitch and attack the goal. Well done to Clara and Orlaith, whose great communication kept the momentum going. The team’s energy and connection on the pitch were unmatched today. I’m hugely impressed with the effort and really looking forward to seeing what this team achieves in our next match – well done, girls!

U9 Miss Ludrigan’s Team
For the first match of the academic year and hockey season, what an absolute masterclass of a match securing a phenomenal 2-0 victory! Huge congrats to Luna for burying both goals, and to Aalia for setting up the win with those unbelievably powerful passes! Unstoppable dream team, girls!

Week 3:U9 Boys Football vs Lochinver House

Mr McManus

This was an excellent game of football with both teams moving the ball around the field well and playing some very attractive football. We went down 3 – 0 in the first half but the boys did not panic and they continued to pass the ball and started to create a number of chances. We got the score back to 3 – 2 and then exchanged goals until we were unfortunate to lose 4 – 6 in the end. I was very encouraged with how well the boys played and they should not be disappointed with the result. The passed the ball well and played as a team and were a real credit to themselves. Well done boys!

Mr Russell

An outstanding performance away from home saw the Edge Grove U9 B team secure a thrilling 5-3 victory against Lochinver House. Max earned Player of the Match honours with a brilliantly taken hat-trick. He was supported magnificently by Oscar, who worked tirelessly across the entire pitch and capped off a dominant display with a well-deserved goal, alongside a smart finish from Nathaniel to round off the scoring. At the back, Jay and Jagger formed a solid defensive unit, protecting Zakaria, who produced a series of crucial, high-quality saves throughout the match. It was a superb, hard-fought team effort from start to finish – well done, boys!

Mr Pawson

The U9’s C team played against a strong Lochinver side who passed and moved the ball well around the pitch. They scored early and were able to take shots outside the penalty box. However, Noah R made some great saves. But Lochinver scored a number of goals. We needed to mark more closely and in defence we needed to clear the ball more quickly to the sidelines. In the end we lost 10 -4. However, we never gave up and we scored goals through Finley F, Asher S and Chester H. We changed formation and this allowed us to defend better and allow us to keep the ball. But we still need to move the ball much more quickly to others in space. Chester H and Finley F showed good pace and determination.

Mr Pawson

The under 9 D team showed real determination and they had chances to score but good defence from Lochinver denied them the opportunity to score. On the break, Lochinver managed to break away and take their chances. We still needed to clear our lines more quickly and move the ball more quickly to front players who were un- marked. Aryan P showed good play and the whole side worked hard together as a team. Again we needed to clear our limes much more quickly which allowed the opposition to score and win 0-7. Now the side needs to move into space and build on their positional play. Lots learned and things to work on for the next match

Week 3: Colts A Football vs Heath Mount, St Columba's and Westbrook Hay

The Edge Grove Colts A team showed magnificent improvement over the course of Wednesday’s quadrangular festival, delivering an outstanding team performance. They kicked off the afternoon in brilliant fashion with a 1-0 victory over St Columbas, clinched when Danny pounced on a loose ball in the box following a dangerous corner. This was followed by a heroic defensive display against a strong Heath Mount side, where the boys thwarted numerous attacks – highlighted by some exceptional saves from Teddy in goal, who even made a brave stoppage with his head! The afternoon concluded with a tough fixture against a physical Westbrook Hay side, whose clinical finishing unfortunately proved too much to overcome. Despite the final result, the boys demonstrated huge growth and resilience throughout the festival, giving them plenty of momentum and confidence to carry into next week’s fixtures.

Week 3: Colts B Football vs Heath Mount, St Columba's and Westbrook Hay

Colts B Football vs Heath Mount, St Columba’s and Westbrook Hay – The Edge Grove B team hosted three home fixtures today against St Columba’s, Westbrook Hay and Heath Mount. Although the results didn’t go our way, the team should be extremely proud of their effort and determination, with some excellent movement of the ball at times. Results: Edge Grove 0-2 Westbrook Hay, Edge Grove 0-1 St Columba’s, Edge Grove 0-1 Heath Mount. Moving forward, the team will focus on communicating better with each other and staying positive regardless of the scoreboard. Players’ Player went to Harry S, and math day Coach’s Player went to Wolf K for his fantastic effort levels that never dropped across all three matches.

Week 3: Colts C Football vs Heath Mount, St Columba's and Westbrook Hay

The Colts C football team played tremendously well on Wednesday afternoon, showing great energy, determination and teamwork throughout their fixtures. The boys played a quadrangular fixture against Westbrook Hay, St Columba’s and Heath Mount. Edge Grove started with a fantastic 1-0 victory against Westbrook Hay, with Riyan scoring the decisive goal. They then faced St Columba’s, narrowly losing 3-0, but continued to work hard and maintain their positions. Against Heath Mount, another closely fought contest saw Edge Grove lose 1–0, with Oscar producing a fantastic save in goal to keep his team in the game. The penultimate fixture against Westbrook Hay ended in a tight 1-1 draw, before the afternoon concluded with a win against St Columba’s. Overall, the Colts C team should be very proud of their performance. They showed excellent teamwork, resilience and commitment across all four matches, maintaining their formation and supporting one another throughout. Well done, boys!

Week 3: Colts E Football vs Heath Mount, St Columba's and Westbrook Hay

The Colts F team showed incredible resilience and passion across a fantastic four-match tournament.

  • vs Heath Mount G (1–1 Draw): Amirtaha opened the scoring with a brilliant finish, supported by amazing saves in goal from Reyansh to secure the draw.
  • vs Heath Mount F (0–2 Loss): Despite a tough defeat, Milan shone in goal, pulling off incredible saves against intense, close-range shots.
  • vs Westbrook Hay (0–0 Draw): A disciplined performance highlighted by Keshav coming agonizingly close to a winner with a shot that narrowly missed.
  • vs St Columba’s (1–0 Win): Amirtaha hit the post on his first effort but buried the second past ex-Edge Grove pupil Harrison in goal to secure a triumphant victory!

A brilliant effort from the whole squad to finish on a high.

Week 3: U9 Football Festival JRu

The Edge Grove Colts A U9 team produced a magnificent performance at the Lochinver House football festival on Thursday. The boys showcased an exceptional quality of football throughout the afternoon, securing victory in seven of their eight matches and scoring a remarkable 27 goals in the process.

Every single member of the squad got themselves on the scoresheet across the tournament – including goalkeeper Aydin, who capped off an impressive display between the posts with a goal of his own. Alongside Aydin, Isaac, Nathaniel, Freddie, Cillian, Oscar, and Danyal all played vital roles, earning rightful praise from several opposition coaches for their fluid play.

The tournament began with a strong 3-1 victory against Aldwickbury, followed by a clinical 6-0 performance against Beechwood Park. The team demonstrated great resilience in hard-fought, tight victories over St Martin’s (3-2) and hosts Lochinver House (2-1). Despite a narrow 2-1 setback against The Hall, the boys responded magnificently, closing out the festival with decisive wins against Haberdashers (3-1), St Columba’s (3-1), and a commanding 6-0 triumph over Hertford Prep.

Week 3: Year 5&6 Tottenham Experience JPa

First match up and we played Manor Lodge on the fantastic training ground at Tottenham. Manor Lodge passed the ball extremely well and on occasions put us under pressure. However, we played three at the back which really shored up the defence. Harry S was tremendous in the middle of defence and Teddy W made some terrific saves. We managed to break away and Noah K managed to score a good goal                   (1 – 0) against the run of play. What did help us was that we closed down the opposition players and put more pressure on them.  A great start to the tournament.

The second match was against Haberdashers’ and we played well and put pressure on the opposition. However, they were good at constructing attacks out wide. We managed to cover back and clear the ball on numerous occasions. When we cleared the ball or passed it to other players in space it gave us time to attack and put pressure on the opposition. Raphael B always looked dangerous when launching attacks from the left back position and his linking work with James R was excellent. A mistake in defence and Haberdashers’ pounced and they scored the decisive goal 1-0. A game that could have gone either way.

Against a very strong Lochinver side who eventually went onto win the tournament we played well against this side. At the back Tobi O was strong in defence and his pace always enabled him to get back and make tackles. Danny L showed skill and put in some determined tackles. But a good set up play by the opposition allowed them to score a goal (1-0) In the later half of the match it certainly showed how much more together the team was and we could have got a goal but a great last minute tackle stopped us from scoring. We played much better as a team and it certainly showed against a very strong side, Lochinver.

The fourth match was against Devonshire House and both teams were evenly matched. We were far more attacking and were shooting from longer distances. Tobi O hit some great shots at goal but it was Harry S who hit a superb shot just inside the opposition half which roared into the goal. This really lifted the team and Noah S scored another very good goal making it (2-0) Ray H, Rafael K and Monty T all played their parts in this match. But what impressed me was the determined approach the side took and looking to score from distances when they had the opportunity. This was something they needed to develop more in matches.

In our final match we finished 3rd in our group and therefore we played St Anthony’s who were third in their group. They put us under real pressure and we found it very hard getting out of our own half. Maybe it was fatigue but we really needed to close down the opposition players and not allow them to pass or shoot outside the box. We batted hard but eventually they scored. We did have some chances to score but the shots went by. Overall the opposition were stronger but this was a great experience for the Edge Grove players playing on the Tottenham Hotspur training ground. Well done to all the players who represented the Colts A.

Week 3: Basketball

On Thursday afternoon players from our after school basketball club played in the first match of the “Above The Rim” Basketball school league competition. Our boys were very excited and played extremely well but were unlucky to lose 8-7 to Salcombe Prep. Well done boys and hopefully the experience will help us to improve in our upcoming matches.

Week 4: Year 5 Futsal Tournament at St Martin’s

It was a very different game playing inside the sports hall with a Futsal football but the side adapted very quickly. First up was the match against St Columba’s but we coped well with their stronger players. Each match was 7 minutes so taking your goal scoring chances was important. Noah scored two super goals (2-0) to put us ahead and good play by James R and Danny L helped us to play well as a team in defence and attack.

The second match was against Alpha and we showed early on that we could control the game. It took us a bit of time to break down the opposition defence, however, Tobi O hit a shot from his own goal line and it went in. Shortly after this Noah got another important goal to put us comfortably ahead. Good play by Ray H, Arjun H and Matthew K helped the team to consolidate their lead and go onto win the match (2-0) A good result for the second match.

Our third match proved one of the toughest of the tournament against a very determined Westbrook Hay side. They took the lead but what impressed me was the the Edge Grove side never gave up and duly came back with goals from James R and Noah R to make the score (2-2) A really good effort and the team work amongst all was excellent and defending in numbers and taking the scoring opportunities allowed us to compete against Westbrook Hay.

Our final match and up against a good St Martin’s side who scored early on when the ball was not cleared. Down an early goal so early allowed the opposition to build on their confidence and they took their chances well. They managed to score a few more goals to make it (0-4) but overall we played very well throughout the tournament against some strong opposition football teams. It was a good learning experience and to finish 2nd overall was a commendable effort. Noah K was awarded the player of the tournament from the Edge Grove team.

Week 4: Saturday 26th U11 Football Tournament vs MTS JRu

Edge Grove Colts A battled admirably through a tough Saturday tournament at Merchant Taylors’ School. They kicked off with a 1–1 draw against the hosts, highlighted by Ray’s outstanding free kick. Every player worked relentlessly, creating chances, executing strong passes, and making crucial tackles. The remaining close matches narrowly went against the boys, where taking just one extra chance could have changed the outcome. The team was represented by Teddy, Raphy, Danny, Tobi, Monty, Ray, James, and Noah.

Week 4: Colts Hockey vs York House - Colts A

Unfortunately, playing on a smaller pitch meant we weren’t able to showcase the strength of our passing game as much as we would have liked. However, the team adapted brilliantly and came away with a fantastic 3–2 victory! Seb and Anira produced some excellent passing and attacking play up front, while Toyosi and Shreyas displayed fantastic defensive skills, clearing a number of dangerous balls away from goal. It was a fantastic game of hockey, with plenty of teamwork, determination and great moments from the whole team. We’re already looking forward to next week’s match, where we’ll have the opportunity to play on a bigger pitch and really showcase our passing game!

Week 4: Colts Hockey vs York House - Colts B

The Colts B hockey team faced a challenging match against York House, playing on a smaller pitch and ultimately losing 4–0. Despite the result, there were several excellent individual performances. Sienna C put in an outstanding defensive display, showing great determination and composure throughout the game, while Leah produced some brilliant attacking play and created several promising opportunities, although unfortunately we were unable to find the back of the net. Leila was also exceptional in goal, making some outstanding saves to keep the team in the game. The team worked hard until the final whistle and can take plenty of positives from a difficult match.

Week 4: Colts Hockey vs York House - Colts C

Edge Grove kicked off a brilliant triangular match with a fantastic display of hockey against York House. The girls played very well throughout, finding space on the pitch and connecting with sharp, accurate passes. Their communication was a real highlight, with the players constantly calling to ensure every pass found a teammate. All that hard work up front paid off, capping off a thrilling performance with a 7–4 victory for Edge Grove. It was a wonderful team effort, and the girls should be hugely proud of how they played!

Colts A Football vs Lochinver House

Edge Grove Colts A delivered a spirited performance against Lochinver House on Wednesday, starting brilliantly with disciplined defending before two late first-half goals gave the visitors a 0–2 lead at the break. The team came out fighting in the second half, instantly pulling one back when relentless pressing from James and Monty allowed Noah to seize the ball and fire home an unstoppable strike. Tobi came agonisingly close to leveling after a powerful run, but Lochinver struck back with a spectacular long-range volley following a loose pass out. As Edge Grove bravely pushed forward in search of a comeback, Lochinver added a fourth on the counter-attack to make it 1–4, sealing a result that did not do justice to the boys’ hard work, pressing, and fantastic team spirit.

Colts B Football vs Lochinver House

Against a very strong Lochinver House side, the Colts B did brilliantly to hold the score at 0-0 until just before half time. The boys moved the ball quickly and stayed well structured throughout the match. Lochinver House eventually ran out 3-0, but Edge Grove never stopped competing. Coach’s Player went to Zachary T and Players’ Player went to Harry S. Boys, you should be proud of a fantastic performance despite the result, and I want to see the same intensity at training.

Colts C Football vs Lochinver House

We passed the ball well and kept shape but Lochinver House were able to move the ball at speed into space. At the back Riyan made a number of good saves to keep the score level. However, Lochinver House started to pressure our defence and eventually scored. We moved the ball wide and had a number of chances to score but good saves by the opposition keeper kept us scoreless. Max in defence showed great speed to cover areas in the defence and Veer always looked to make good passes to other players up front. Hamza always chased and never gave up. In the end (6-0) was the final score but the side always tried and learnt a great deal from this match.

Colts D Football vs Lochinver House

The boys played a really good game of football against a very strong Lochinver House team. Although we lost 0 – 3, this was not a fair reflection of the game as their goalkeeper was “man of the match”, saving a number of certain goals and really frustrating our boys with his excellent saves. We started slowly and conceded two early goals but kept passing the ball well and created a number of our own opportunities. We conceded a “soft” goal just before half time but we did not drop our heads and we dominated the second half but were unable to score the goals we deserved. The boys should be very proud of the way they played and although we were unbeaten last week,  this was actually an improvement in performance. Well done.

Colts E Football vs Lochinver House

The Colts Es opened their double-header against Lochinver House with plenty of spirit. Aaran delivered a standout performance in goal, pulling off a series of excellent saves to keep the side in the fight. The highlight of the game came from Amirtaha, who caught everyone’s attention with a blinding goal to get Edge Grove on the scoresheet. Despite some strong play across the pitch, Lochinver House proved clinical in front of goal, taking the match 5-1.
Facing an even tougher opponent in the second game, the boys showed immense character and pulled together brilliantly as a team. Milan was relentless in goal, pulling off several blinding saves under heavy pressure to keep the opposition at bay. While the final whistle blew on a 7-0 defeat, the boys never let their heads drop, displaying great determination and team spirit right up to the end.

Colts F Football vs Lochinver House

The Colts Fs opened their double-header against Lochinver House with plenty of spirit.
Facing an even tougher opponent in the second game, the Colts Fs showed immense character and pulled together brilliantly as a team. Milan was relentless in goal, pulling off several blinding saves under heavy pressure to keep the opposition at bay. While the final whistle blew on a 7-0 defeat, the boys never let their heads drop, displaying great determination and team spirit right up to the end.

U8 Hockey vs Belmont

Rosie’s team

The Edge Grove U8 hockey team put in an excellent display to secure a fantastic 10–0 victory against Belmont.

From the start, the team showed great energy, confidence and teamwork. They passed the ball really well, moving it quickly around the pitch and working together to create plenty of attacking opportunities. There were some excellent passages of team play, with the players showing great awareness of where their teammates were.

A particular strength of the game was the team’s attacking positioning. The players worked hard to ensure that there was always someone in the attacking dee, giving them a great option when moving forward and helping to create numerous chances.

The goals were shared between Amal, Eden, Elyssia and Rosie, with all four players making an excellent contribution in front of goal.

It was a superb team performance from Edge Grove, with everyone working hard for one another and demonstrating some excellent hockey. A well-deserved 10–0 win!

U8 Hockey vs Belmont

Martina’s team

The Edge Grove U8 Martina’s hockey team secured a fantastic 7–2 victory against Belmont in an exciting and enjoyable match.

Edge Grove made a slightly slower start to the game, allowing Belmont to take advantage and score two early goals. However, the team responded brilliantly, quickly finding their rhythm and beginning to play with greater confidence and purpose.

Once Edge Grove found their flow, the goals soon followed. The team began passing the ball well, creating space and working hard for one another. Their attacking play became increasingly effective, with plenty of pressure being applied to the Belmont defence.

The goals were shared between Margo, Martina, Heer and Nova, with all four players making an excellent contribution to the team’s impressive total of seven goals.

It was a great comeback and a strong team performance from the Martinas. They showed excellent determination to recover from the early setback and finish the match with a well-deserved 7–2 victory.

Miss Lundrigan’s team

What a fantastic first game of the season! Congratulations to all of the girls who took part. It was lovely to see all your smiles at the end of the game.

We were incredibly strong on the attack with Alice majority of the goals and an assist for Uma. The girls had excellent spacings and remained consistent throughout the game. They really worked on their communication and towards the end it made a difference as Belmont were getting stronger by the minute. For the majority of the game the ball was in our half and we finished the game with a 7-0 win. They played with confidence and ease. Well done to all! Keep up the good work, girls!

Miss Kyriacou’s Team

For all of our girls, this was their first-ever match, so there were certainly some nerves as they prepared to face Belmont. However, those nerves soon settled as excitement and enthusiasm took over. Before the match commenced, the team completed a thorough warm-up and practised their skills, helping everyone feel prepared and focused. Once the whistle blew, the girls showed fantastic teamwork, great communication, determination and drive. Kaishori and Ada were outstanding in front of goal, scoring many of our goals and helping the team secure a fantastic 6–2 victory over Belmont.

The girls should be extremely proud of their performance and the way they worked together throughout the match. Alongside their determination to win, they also demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, showing respect and kindness towards our guests. At the end of the game, the girls congratulated Belmont on all their efforts and celebrated what was a brilliant team performance. What a great victory and a fantastic first match for all of our girls!

U9 Hockey vs Belmont

Mrs Emms Teams

A fantastic afternoon of hockey for both of Mrs Emms’ teams on Thursday afternoon! 🏑

Alisha’s team demonstrated fantastic ball skills, maintaining their positions well and moving the ball quickly around Belmont. Their hard work and teamwork led to a well-deserved 9–3 victory.

Orlaith’s team also showed fantastic teamwork, making sure they were moving into space and creating options for the next pass. They played some excellent hockey and secured a fantastic 11–0 win.

Both teams have identified that they need to continue working on their communication and talking on the pitch, but I am incredibly proud of all the players and the way they represented the school in their first away games of the season.

Well done, girls! 🌟🏑

Miss Corin’s team

The U9 team put on a fantastic performance in their hockey match against Belmont. The girls played exceptionally well throughout, showing brilliant teamwork as they moved into open space and made sharp, accurate passes. A special shout-out goes to Narjes for some outstanding defending that kept the opposition under constant pressure. Their great communication ensured every pass found the right teammate, culminating in a thrilling 4–3 victory for Edge Grove. It was a superb effort from start to finish, and the whole team should be really proud!

U9 Football Festival

Mr Hunt

The Edge Grove U9s hosted a football festival against Heath Mount, Lockers Park and Westbrook Hay, and the boys played superbly throughout. Their determination was clear from the first whistle, with every player leaving the pitch exhausted from their effort. Edge Grove won all three matches, beating Heath Mount 2-1, Lockers Park 5-1 and Westbrook Hay 2-1. Coach’s Player went to Jagger C for his excellent defending and his composure on the ball under pressure. Fantastic work, boys, keep moving the ball this well and you will continue to have success as a team!

U9 Football vs Westbrook Hay / Heath Mount

Mr McManus

We played a triangular fixture with Westbrook Hay and Heath Mount and the boys played extremely well in the first game against Westbrook Hay. We passed the ball better than I have seen in a very long time and created a number of goalscoring opportunities with quick two touch passes and changing the direction of play. We proved to be too strong and ran out comfortable winners by 5 goals to 0. We seemed to tire in the second match against Heath Mount and forgot all the things we did well in the first match. We kicked the ball before controlling it first and tried to pass down the middle instead of passing it out wide. Although we lost 2 – 0, it was a good afternoon of football and we played some fantastic football at times.

U9 Football vs Heath Mount

Mr McManus

We had an excellent match against an evenly matched Heath Mount team and the boys played some very good football. They worked hard as a team after going 1 – 0 down early in the match. The boys never dropped their heads and goals by Zak and Asher and great teamwork meant that we won the match 2 – 1. A great effort by all.

U8 Boys Football vs Westbrook Hay

Our first match was against Heath Mount who came at us strongly and we had to defend well to keep the opposition from not scoring. Leo R made some great saves and Anaborhi S and Okiki A always showed glimpses of exciting play that put the opposition under pressure. When Theodore R had time on the ball he made some good passes. However, in defence we needed to get back more quickly in numbers and Heath Mount were able to score and make it (2-0)

A very exciting second match against Westbrook Hay who took an early lead and too often we moved the ball across goal where their players were able to intercept the ball and shoot at our goal. Westbrook Hay took their chances well and went up with three goals. What really impressed me was that Edge Grove never gave up and Anaborhi S and Okiki A showed their individual ability and Anaborhi S scored two goals and Okiki A got one goal. We came back well and again Leo R made a number of good saves. There were times we needed to look up earlier and make quicker passes to create the space out wide. In the end we went down (3-5) but it was a great effort all round.

Our final match was against Lockers Park and we took an early lead but too often we needed to move the ball rather than play individually.  Against a stronger team we could lose the ball but we were the better side and the goals started going in throughout the match. Okiki A 2 goals, Theodore R 4 goals, Anaborhi S 2 goals and Ayden 1 goal. So every outfield player scored a goal which was a great way to finish. We won (9-0) and we took our chances well against Lockers Park. Well done!

Mr Bissix’s Team – U8 Football

Mr Bissix’s team enjoyed a sensational afternoon of football across three fixtures, linking up brilliantly to defeat Heath Mount (2–0), Westbrook Hay (2–0), and Lockers Park (4–0). Anchored by an exceptional performance in goal from Aaryan, whose calm composure, crucial saves, and precise distribution laid the foundation for clean sheets, the boys played with outstanding energy and sportsmanship throughout. In outfield play, Lenny and Alex were vital in shutting down opposition attacks and breaking up play, working tirelessly to transition the ball forward. Up front, the team’s clinical finishing proved unstoppable, with Cameron netting an impressive four goals on the day alongside stellar dynamic scoring from Kaveer and Rafa. It was a complete team effort from Aaryan, Rafa, Cameron, Lenny, Alex, and Kaveer

Week 5: Colts A Hockey vs Orley Farm

A tough match for our Colts A hockey team on Wednesday.

Whilst we had numerous fantastic attacking breakthroughs, unfortunately we weren’t playing as a team and were very quiet on the pitch. The final score of 1–9 doesn’t truly reflect some excellent defending from Toyosi and fantastic midfield work from Shreyas.

There are certainly a number of things for us to work on as a team before our match next week, particularly our communication, teamwork and movement off the ball.

Well done team, lots to take away and build on!

Week 5: Colts B Hockey vs Orley Farm

The Colts B team enjoyed a fantastic 5–1 victory against Orley Farm in a strong all-round team performance. Coco was outstanding in attack, scoring four of Edge Grove’s five goals, with Iylah adding the fifth. The partnership between Leah and Coco was a real highlight, as they combined superbly, passing the ball into space and creating plenty of opportunities. Adam had an excellent game at centre midfield, working hard to support both the attack and defence and linking the team together well. We did manage to win all three of our games but the most pleasing thing was the improvement over the three matches. Well done boys.

In our 2nd Match, we played Beechwood Park B and we dominated play but on occasions just needed to release the ball a little earlier and our players moved into space to receive the ball.
